Great Gatsby Essay Writing Samples

Great Gatsby Essay Writing SamplesWhen you think of AP Great Gatsby essay writing samples, you might think of the movie based on the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald. You might also think of the infamous party scene, where someone is looking out of the window as the guests arrive at the birthday bash and points out that they are only gathering for a fake party. But did you know that this book is a memoir of his time as a young man at the Buffalo society party scene in the twenties? The other Great Gatsby essay writing samples include the letter of protest written by the beautiful Daisy, to her lover, regarding the plan to give away her baby, for five dollars and fifty cents; and her gentle voice eloquently defending the rights of the child as she calls the proceedings as a sham. In fact, this is so well written that I was completely moved by it.The entire novel is full of details from the point of view of the characters. I especially loved the story of Uncle Jake's trip to New York, and th e rise of the war to come. The Great Gatsby comes with four sample letters to be used in your own letters. The letter from Daisy is written in full and contains the correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar of the period. There is also the letter from Tom, with the final note that he'd been too trusting in all his life, and he was well aware of what he'd gotten himself into, before he went there. This one should read 'My hopes are that we can get along and get through it.' It is a lovely passage. The third essay writing sample is for the friend of Miss Rachel, whom the narrator falls in love with and continues to fall in love with as the novel unfolds. The 'hottie' is an 18th century scullery maid, named Sarah, who tells the narrator of her love for him, and asks that he not tell anyone else of her true nature. It is a short but moving poem about how each woman's 'soul is love,' and the need to live in the present moment.Another Great Gatsby essay writing sample comes from another fri end of the narrator, named Grace. She begs the narrator to marry her, so that she won't have to wait for him, but he insists on 'grace,' which Grace understands to mean 'poetry.' Grace has a strong case for her love, and uses this as an argument for love, while assuring the narrator that she will always be his friend. All these essay writing samples are found within the hardbound version of the book, and I recommend it highly for that reason. The movie by Baz Luhrmann is worth watching as well, and it makes for a much better movie than the book could have been.
